Group History

The 1st Selsdon and Addington Scout Group have been providing adventure to young people in Selsdon since 1927, whilst we may have changed in appearance and the way we do things have moved with the times, we still have the same adventurous spirit that the first Scouts had!

Take a look at the following photos to see what we mean.

The photos include some taken and all kindly made available to us by David Gue and all snapped on his Kodak box brownie and developed and printed by himself.

David told us that he joined the Scouts after his house on Sundale Avenue was bombed in 1944 and they moved into a requisitioned house on Norfolk Avenue. Miss Inge, the then Cub Leader otherwise known as Arkela, lived nearby so he joined the Cub Pack, rising to the giddy heights of Senior Sixer and finally a Patrol Leader in the Scout Troop.

Do you have any memories of the 1st Selsdon and Addington Scout Group? If so, we would love to hear from you!
